Stephanie saw the mail truck pass by, she went to her mailbox, pulled our her mail, to find one letter. She
looked at the envelope, there was no stamp, no postmark, only her name and address. She walked back to the house, opened the letter and began to read it.

Dear Stephanie,
I am going to be in your neighborhood tonight and I would like to stop by for a visit. If it is not too much trouble, would you care to have a chat.

He almost didn't see the old lady, stranded on the side of the road. But even in the dim light of day, he could see she needed help. So he pulled up in front of her Mercedes and got out. His Pontiac was still sputtering when he approached her. Even with the smile on his face, she was worried. No one had stopped to help for the last hour or so. Was he going to hurt her? He didn't look safe, he looked poor and hungry. He could see that she was frightened, s...

Two men, both seriously ill, occupied the same hospital room. One man was
allowed to sit up in his bed for an hour each afternoon to help drain the
fluid from his lungs. His bed was next to the room's only window.

The other man had to spend all his time flat on his back. The men talked for
hours on end. They spoke of their wives and families, their homes, their jobs,
their involvement in the military service, where they had been on vacation.
Every afternoon when the man in the bed by the wind...

A wise woman who was traveling in the mountains found
a precious stone in a stream. The next day she met another
traveler who was hungry, and the wise woman opened her
bag to share her food. The hungry traveler saw the precious
stone and asked the woman to give it to him.
She did so without hesitation.

The traveler left, rejoicing in his good fortune. He knew the
stone was worth enough to give him security for a lifetime.
But a few days later he came back to return the stone to the
wise woman...
