God's Provision And Protetion

Daily Encouragement For July 13:

God's Provision And Protection

A missionary was serving as a medic at a small field hospital in Africa.
Periodically he had to travel by bicycle through the jungle to a nearby
city for supplies. It was a two day trip so he had to camp out overnight.
He had made this trip several times without incident. One day however, he
arrived at his destination and saw two men fighting. One was seriously
hurt, so he treated him and witnessed to him and went about his business.

Unfolding The Rosebud

A young, new preacher was walking with an older, more seasoned preacher
in the garden one day and feeling a bit insecure about what God had for
him to do; he was inquiring of the older preacher. The older preacher
walked up to a rosebush and handed the young preacher a rosebud and told
him to open it without tearing off any petals. The young preacher looked
in disbelief at the older preacher and was trying to figure out what

Tools For Sale

It was advertised that the devil was going to put his tools up for sale.
On the date of the sale, the tools were placed for public inspection; each
tool being marked with its sale price. They were a treacherous lot of
implements...Hatred, Envy, Jealousy, Deceit, Lying, Bitterness, Guilt, Pride, and so on.

Laid apart from the rest was a harmless looking tool, all worn out and priced
very high.

"What is the name of this tool?" asked one of the purchas...

Overcoming Sin

There are many people in this world that have a problem with sin. They may be good people but
cannot resist the temptation. When we allow temptation to come into our life and follow through with whatever the temptation may be and sin, we are not only sinning against our body and spirit but we are also sinning against God.

We need to remember that in our own strength we cannot overcome sin and the enemy, but we can when we humble ourselves before th...

Daily Encouragement For July 05:

A Coincidence?

I was very proud of my daughter Emily. At only 9 years old, she had been carefully saving her allowance money all year and trying to earn extra money by doing small jobs around the neighborhood. Emily was determined to save enough to buy a girl's mountain bike, an item for which she'd been longing for. She'd been faithfully putting her money away since the beginning of the year.

"How are you doing, honey?" I asked soon after Thanksgiving. I knew s...

The Piano Lesson

Wishing to encourage her young son's progress on the piano, a mother took
the small boy to a Paderewski concert.

After they were seated, the mother spotted a friend in the audience and

Seizing the opportunity to explore the wonders of the concert hall, the

The Beautiful Design

When I was a little boy, my mother used to embroider a great deal. I would
sit at her knee and look up from the floor and ask what she was doing. She
informed me that she was embroidering. I told her that it looked like a
mess from where I was sitting, which was the underside. I watched her work
within the boundaries of the little round hoop that she held in her hand.

Dear Brothers & Sisters in Christ:

Everyone with the diagnosis of breast cancer is not here today; God spared me for a reason...that

My story: I was recently divorced with two kids, a dog, more bills than money, in transition between

"He's a fine looking boy," the man said. "That's my son on the swing in

Though the cover is worn
And the pages are torn
And places bear traces of tears,
Yet more precious than gold
Is the Book worn and old,
That can shatter and scatter my fears.

When I prayerfully look
In the precious old Book,
As my eyes scan the pages I see,
any tokens of love
From the Father above,
Who is nearest and dearest to me.

It has been difficult for me to share this testimony with others, due to the pain and shame it recalls of the life I lived. There can't be attainment unless there's a goal

And prayers can't be answered unless they are prayed.

It seemed the price I had to pay.

My joy was gone, my heart was sad
Pain was all I knew.
My wounded soul enveloped me
Loving seemed too hard to do.

Daily Encouragement For April 23:

Lynn Hanninen's Testimony

My name is Lynn and I'm paralyzed from the neck down and I can't speak. I would like to tell you a little about myself and what happened to me. I had a brainstem stroke. For two weeks before my stroke, my neck hurt. The day of my stroke I started out feeling like I had the flu. I was 27.

My brother and wife and two month old son, Christopher, lived in the same apartment complex. That Sunday afternoon I went over to their place to watch ...

Traveling On Your Knees

Daily Encouragement For April 22:

Traveling On Your Knees

Last night I took a journey
To a land across the seas.
I didn't go by ship or plane
I traveled on my knees.

I saw so many people there
In bondage to their sin,
And Jesus told me I should go,
That there were souls to win.

But I said "Jesus, I can't go
To lands across the seas."
He answered quickly, "Yes, you can
By traveling on your knees."

He said, "You pray, I'll meet the need.
You call, and I will hear.
It's up to you to be concerned

Daily Encouragement For April 20:

Live For Today

This is a great poem that reminds me to forget the things that are past and look toward the future and better things the Lord has for me. I hope you enjoy the poem and the message it offers to each one of us.

Have you ever wished,
when a day went wrong
a wish that's quite in vain
that it were only possible
to live that day again

You'd start out in the morning
with the prayers you should have said
and through the days your actions

The Prodigal Daughter

I was pretty much raised in the church. For a long time I thought

[My family had quit going to church for a couple of years......long

Daily Encouragement For April 18:

The Burden

"Why was my burden so heavy?" I slammed the bedroom door and leaned against it. Is there no rest from this life? I wondered. I stumbled to my bed and dropped onto it, pressing my pillow around my ears to shut out the noise of my existence. "Oh God," I cried, "let me sleep. Let me sleep forever and never wake up!" With a deep sob I tried to will myself into oblivion, then welcomed the blackness that came over me.

Light surrounded me as I regained consc...

10 Things You Shall Not Do

 1. You shall not worry, for worry is the most unproductive of all human activities.

2. You shall not be fearful, for most of the things we fear never come to pass.

3. You shall not carry grudges, for they are the heaviest of all life's burdens.

4. You shall face each problem as it comes. You can only handle one at a time anyway.

5. You shall not take problems to bed with you, for they make very poor bedfellows...

The boy stood in front of the principal with his back arched, head cocked back and hands clenched defiantly. "Go ahead, give it to me!"

The principal looked down at the young rebel. "How many times have you been in here?"

The child turn his nose up and rebelliously replied, "Apparently not enough!"

The principal gave the boy a strange look. "And you have been punished each time have you not?"

I Saw Jesus

Daily Encouragement For February 27:

I saw Jesus last week.
He was wearing blue jeans and an old shirt, He was up at the church building, He was alone and working hard. For just a minute he looked a little like one of our members, but it was Jesus ... I could tell by his smile.

I
saw Jesus last Sunday, He was preaching a sermon in church. He didn't talk real loud or use long words,
but you could tell he believed what he said. For just a minute, he looked like my Pastor. But it was Jesus ... I ...

A much loved minister of God once carried a secret burden of long past sin deep in his heart. He had committed the sin many years before, after he received Christ, but was now serving God in the ministry faithfully. No one knew what he had done, but they did know he had repented of what he did long ago. Even so, he had suffered years of remorse over the incident without any sense of God's forgiveness.

The farmer heard the mule and after carefully assessing the situation, the farmer sympathized with the mule, but decided that neither the mule nor the well was worth the trouble of saving.

spirit intimately, and I love you. You are on this earth, living your life, making
your decisions, trying to find out what's the best thing to do and how to do it,
how to live, how to survive and it's a struggle. I know this and I understand, for
this is the struggle of life. But all of this can be made easier if you w...

The Hospital Stay

Posted by Christina Scovone on Sunday, January 8, 2012, In : Kindness

Two men, both seriously ill, occupied the same hospital room. One man was
allowed to sit up in his bed for an hour each afternoon to help drain the
fluid from his lungs. His bed was next to the room's only window.

The other man had to spend all his time flat on his back. The men talked for
hours on end. They spoke of their wives and families, their homes, their jobs,
their involvement in the military service, where they had been on vacation.
Every afternoon when the man in the bed by the wind...

A Conversation With God

Posted by Christina Scovone on Saturday, January 7, 2012, In : Serving God

One day, I woke early in the morning to watch the sunrise. Ah the
beauty of God's creation is beyond description. As I watched, I praised
God for His beautiful work. As I sat there, I felt the Lord's presence with me.

He asked me:
"Do you love me?"
I answered, "Of course, God! You are my Lord and Savior!"
Then He asked, "If you were physically handicapped, would you still love me?"

I was perplexed. I looked down upon my arms, legs, and the rest of my body and
wondered how many things I wouldn't...

Paid In Full

Posted by Christina Scovone on Friday, January 6, 2012, In : Forgiven

After living a "decent" life my time on earth came to an end. The first
thing I remember is sitting on a bench in the waiting room of what I thought
to be a courthouse. The doors opened and I was instructed to come in and
have a seat by the defense table. As I looked around I saw the "prosecutor,"
he was a villainous looking gent who snarled, as he stared at me. He
definitely was the most evil person I have ever seen. I sat down and looked
to my left and there sat my lawyer, a kind and gentle loo...

God Still Speaks

Posted by Christina Scovone on Thursday, January 5, 2012, In : Prayer Works

A young man had been to Wednesday night Bible Study.
The Pastor had shared about listening to God and obeying the Lord's voice.
The young man couldn't help but wonder, "Does God still speak to people?"

After the service he went out with some friends for coffee nd they
discussed the message. Several different ones talked about how God had led
them in different ways. It was about ten o'clock when the young man started
driving home. Sitting in his car, he just began to pray, "God. . . If you still...

The Wall Of Cards

Posted by Christina Scovone on Wednesday, January 4, 2012, In : Forgiven

In that place between wakefulness and dreams, I found myself in the room.
There were no distinguishing features except one wall covered with small
index cards. They were like the ones in libraries that list titles by
author or subject in alphabetical order. But these cards, which stretched
from the floor to the ceiling and left to right, had very different readings.

I picked a card and put it back quickly, shocked to realize that I recognized
some of the people on them. And then, without being tol...

I Painted You A Rainbow

Posted by Christina Scovone on Tuesday, January 3, 2012, In : Poems

I will paint you a rainbow as a gift from me,

Then hang it from heaven for the whole world to see.

On a canvas of love I will cover your fears,

With a soft brush I'll dry all your tears.

I will paint you a rainbow with feelings so deep,

My stroke will be gentle, my touch you may keep.

On a palette of words I will tenderly blend,

Colorful thoughts with bright verses to send.

I will paint you a rainbow in reds, blues and gold,

Stretched like loving arms ready to enfold.

And deep in the center of the mo...

Finders, Keepers, or Givers

Posted by Christina Scovone on Monday, January 2, 2012, In : Kindness

A wise woman who was traveling in the mountains found
a precious stone in a stream. The next day she met another
traveler who was hungry, and the wise woman opened her
bag to share her food. The hungry traveler saw the precious
stone and asked the woman to give it to him.
She did so without hesitation.

The traveler left, rejoicing in his good fortune. He knew the
stone was worth enough to give him security for a lifetime.
But a few days later he came back to return the stone to the
wise woman...

Do Unto Others

Posted by Christina Scovone on Sunday, January 1, 2012, In : Kindness
One stormy night many years ago, an elderly man and
his wife entered the lobby of a small hotel in
Philadelphia. Trying to get out of the rain, the
couple approached the front desk hoping to get some
shelter for the night.

"Could you possibly give us a room here?" the husband
asked. The clerk, a friendly man with a winning smile,
looked at the couple and explained that there were
three conventions in town.

"All of our rooms are taken," the clerk said. "But I
can't send a nice couple like you out into t...

If Tomorrow Never Comes

Posted by on Saturday, December 31, 2011, In : Hope
If I knew it would be the last time
that I'd see you fall asleep,
I would tuck you in more tightly
and pray the Lord, your soul to keep.

If I knew it would be the last time
that I see you walk out the door,
I would give you a hug and kiss
and call you back for one more.

If I knew it would be the last time
I'd hear your voice lifted up in praise,
I would video tape each action and word,
so I could play them back day after day.

If I knew it would be the last time,
I could spare an extra minute or two
to stop...
