Unfolding The Rosebud

Posted by Christina Scovone on Wednesday, July 11, 2012, In : Serving God

Daily Encouragement For July 11:

Unfolding The Rosebud

A young, new preacher was walking with an older, more seasoned preacher
in the garden one day and feeling a bit insecure about what God had for
him to do; he was inquiring of the older preacher. The older preacher
walked up to a rosebush and handed the young preacher a rosebud and told
him to open it without tearing off any petals. The young preacher looked
in disbelief at the older preacher and was trying to figure out what
a rosebud could poss...

Daily Encouragement For June 20:

The Faithful Preacher

Several years ago a preacher moved to Houston, Texas. Some weeks after he
arrived, he had occasion to ride the bus from his home to the downtown
area. When he sat down, he discovered that the driver had accidentally
given him a quarter too much change.

As he considered what to do, he thought to himself, 'you better give the
quarter back. It would be wrong to keep it'. Then he thought, 'Oh, forget
it, it's only a quarter. Who would worry about ...

The Rock

Daily Encouragement For June 14:

The Rock

A little boy was spending his Saturday morning playing in his sandbox. He
had with him his box of cars and trucks, his plastic pail, and a shiny red
plastic shovel. In the process of creating roads and tunnels in the soft
sand, he discovered a large rock in the middle of the sandbox.

The boy dug around the rock, managing to dislodge it from the dirt. With
a little bit of struggle, he pushed and nudged the rock across the sandbox
busying his feet. (He was a ...

The Obstacle In Our Path

Daily Encouragement For June 11:

The Obstacle In Our Path

In ancient times, a King had a boulder placed on a roadway. Then he hid
himself and watched to see if anyone would remove the huge rock.

Some of the king's wealthiest merchants and courtiers came by and simply
walked around it. Many loudly blamed the king for not keeping the roads
clear, But none did anything about getting the stone out of the way.

Then a peasant came along carrying a load of vegetables.

Upon approaching the boulder, the...

The Thief

Daily Encouragement For June 08:

The Thief

A horrible thing happened to me today.....a thief broke into my house. It
happened shortly after I awoke this morning. I got up and began rushing
about. I had a thousand things on my list and was already running behind.
Quickly, I gulped down breakfast, took a shower and got ready for work. In
my rush, I forgot to turn the security system on at my house.

It was just about a half an hour later that the thief broke in. Of course,
he didn't make a sound....

He's The Reason Why

Posted by on Friday, May 18, 2012, In : Poems

Daily Encouragement For May 18:

He's The Reason Why

People often ask me, why I live the life I live.
Why is it that to God my soul I choose to give?
I answer them proudly, with my spirits lifted high.
Jesus Christ is my Savior, He's the reason why.

He gave His life on Calvary, to save both you and me.
The price was very great, yet Jesus paid it for you and for me.
They hung Him a rugged tree, and pierced Him in His side.
My Jesus chose to die for me, He did it all for me to live.

And just when people t...

Living The Christian Life

Daily Encouragement For May 09:

Living The Christian Life

My name is Amanda. I am 15. I am not sure when I got saved because I was young. I learned that unless I believe that Jesus saves me forever when I asked Him to save me that I might not be saved. So, when I was about 8 or 9, I asked Jesus to be my Lord and Savior so I could know for myself that I am really saved this time.

Living the Christian life is a struggle just like anything else. You've got the whole world pulling at you, telling yo...

Healed And Whole

Posted by on Tuesday, April 24, 2012, In : Poems

Daily Encouragement For April 25:

Healed And Whole

One day I dug a little hole

And put my hurt inside
I thought that I could just forget
I'd put it there to hide.

But that little hurt began to grow
I covered it every day
I couldn't leave it and go on
It seemed the price I had to pay.

My joy was gone, my heart was sad
Pain was all I knew.
My wounded soul enveloped me
Loving seemed too hard to do.

One day, while standing by my hole
I cried to God above
And said, "If You are really there ...

Daily Encouragement For April 18:

The Burden

"Why was my burden so heavy?" I slammed the bedroom door and leaned against it. Is there no rest from this life? I wondered. I stumbled to my bed and dropped onto it, pressing my pillow around my ears to shut out the noise of my existence. "Oh God," I cried, "let me sleep. Let me sleep forever and never wake up!" With a deep sob I tried to will myself into oblivion, then welcomed the blackness that came over me.

Light surrounded me as I regained consc...

several hours already that night, and this announcement only made it

This is such a simple, yet powerful story. Every seed you sow in witnessing the saving grace of Jesus does do its job. We read this in Isaiah 55:11, "So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it."

I hope you enjoy the story.

not a cloud was in my sky.

I thought I knew His love for me,
I thought I'd seen His grace,
I thought I did not need to grow,
I thought I'd found my place.
But then the way grew rough and dark,

Why the heaven still is leaden

Do you wonder as you suffer,
Whether God does understand,
And if so, why He ignores you,
Fails to hold you in His Hand?
