Title:
Power Of The Tongue
Hello
My Friend,
The
tongue is the most powerful tool a person has, for example, most
businesses receive their customers by word of mouth, the more people
that talk good about it the more the business excels. However, if you
get just one person saying something bad about it, even if it is not
true, it can destroy it. A lying tongue destroys trust in another
person's word, just one conversation can do evil that will last a
lifetime. “Even
so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold,
how great a matter a little fire kindleth! And
the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our
members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the
course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell. For every kind of
beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and of things in the sea, is
tamed, and hath been tamed of mankind: But the tongue can no man
tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.”
- James 3:5-8.
It
seems like the closer you get to God the more persecuted, lied to,
and tempted you get by people who know your faith. It's as if they
have some agenda to see you fall because they have fallen or refuse
to live a moral life. Those who remain faithful to God will reap the
benefits of staying upright in such corrupt conditions. “A
good man obtaineth favour of the LORD: but a man of wicked devices
will he condemn. A
man shall not be established by wickedness: but the root of the
righteous shall not be moved. The
wicked are overthrown, and are not: but the house of the righteous
shall stand. A
man shall be commended according to his wisdom: but he that is of a
perverse heart shall be despised. He that is despised, and hath a
servant, is better than he that honoureth himself, and lacketh
bread.”
- Proverbs 12:2-9.
A perverse heart is one that
turned away from doing
what is right, there
are many people in the world who are very good talkers, but they are
not close to what they say they are. They boast of all their
possessions, fame, and fortune, but it's all lies and sooner or later
people find out and despise them. God rather see us with nothing and
honoring ourselves by being ourselves than making up some story and
living in the lies of it. “I
know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert
cold or hot.
So
then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue
thee out of my mouth.”
- Revelation 3:15,16.
God
despises liars, in fact, one of the first commandments He gave us is,
“Thou
shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.”
- Exodus 20:16. We are not to tell lies about anyone, lies destroy
people more than anything in the world. I can understand why God
despises liars, they ruin lives and care less because their only
concern is themselves. “There
is that speaketh like the piercings of a sword: but the tongue of the
wise is health. The
lip of truth shall be established for ever: but a lying tongue is but
for a moment. Deceit is in the heart of them that imagine evil: but
to the counsellors of peace is joy. There shall no evil happen to the
just: but the wicked shall be filled with mischief. Lying lips are
abomination to the LORD: but they that deal truly are his delight.”
- Proverbs 12:18-22.
Have
you known some liars before? I mean down right liars, people who lie
so much that you do not know what is truth? I know a couple of people
like that and let me tell you, I cringe whenever they contact me.
There was a quote I read a while back, “I don't know whats worse
their lies or their thinking that you are dumb enough to believe
them.” It's sad, but many people get deceived and seriously hurt
because they trusted someone's lies. Millions of people will end up
in hell because they are trusting in their false religion as their
salvation instead of Jesus Christ. While we cannot do anything about
the liars, we can keep ourselves from being deceived by them, and if
we do get deceived by them, they have to answer to God. “Be
not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that
shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the
flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the
Spirit reap life everlasting.”
- Galatians 6:7,8.
The tongue should be an instrument of life
controlled by the Holy Spirit, when we allow the Holy Spirit to do
the talking for us we become a witness and testimony of a great life
with Christ. “He
that keepeth his mouth keepeth his life: but he that openeth wide his
lips shall have destruction. The
soul of the sluggard desireth, and hath nothing: but the soul of the
diligent shall be made fat. A righteous man hateth lying: but a
wicked man is loathsome, and cometh to shame. Righteousness keepeth
him that is upright in the way: but wickedness overthroweth the
sinner. The
righteous eateth to the satisfying of his soul: but the belly of the
wicked shall want.”
- Proverbs 13:3-6,25.
The truth in God's Word is in great
need today, every Christian needs to use the power of their tongue to
tell it, shout it out loud, and get involved in keeping His Word
alive. You say you don't know how to do that? Just tell everyone you
know about how Christ can save them. The more people we get on our
side the stronger we become as the whole Body of Christ. “Where
no oxen are, the crib is clean: but much increase is by the strength
of the ox. A
faithful witness will not lie: but a false witness will utter lies.
Go
from the presence of a foolish man, when thou perceivest not in him
the lips of knowledge. Fools make a mock at sin: but among the
righteous there is favour. The
heart knoweth his own bitterness; and a stranger doth not intermeddle
with his joy. The house of the wicked shall be overthrown: but the
tabernacle of the upright shall flourish.”
- Proverbs 14:4,5,7,9-11.
You don't have to know every story
in the Bible to be a witness, you just need to know the Gospel, which
is the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, if you are
saved than you can show them how they can be saved. If you are not
saved, it's time to get saved and get to work, Jesus will be here one
day and everyone will stand accountable, we need to be armed and
ready. “Stand
therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the
breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation
of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith,
wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the
wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the
Spirit, which is the word of God: Praying always with all prayer and
supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all
perseverance and supplication for all saints;”
- Ephesians 6:14-18.
Today's
Prayer:
God, I want to use my tongue to be an instrument for You, use Your
voice to speak through me. Lead me and guide me to be a witness and
testimony to all who come my way, give me Your power to speak the
truth and nothing, but the truth to those who need to be saved. Let
me not be timid or shy to speak Your truths and help me to stand firm
and abide in Your truths. Lead me away from those who are trying to
corrupt me and keep me from falling into corruption. In Jesus' name.
Amen.
