By The Blood

Hello My Friend,
A seal is a
mark of authenticity, to mark with a stamp, as an evidence of
standard exactness, to mark as ones property, and secure from danger.
Every person who calls on the Lord Jesus Christ as their Savior is
marked with a stamp of His blood upon their souls. That mark says
that we belong to Jesus and He secures us from the dangers of death,
hell, and Satan. While we cannot control some of the circumstances we
encounter we can control most of them by reminding ourselves that the
only reason we are sealed by the blood is because Jesus gave His life
for us.
“He
that hath received his testimony hath set to his seal that God is
true. For
he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for God giveth not
the Spirit by measure unto him. The Father loveth the Son, and hath
given all things into his hand. He that believeth on the Son hath
everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see
life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.”
- John 3:33-36.
The
wall surrounding Jerusalem was complete and a revival had just begun,
people were eager to know about this God that they have only heard
about. There was this book to help them learn about this God, but
they could not understand it because it was written in the Hebrew
language (which is why the New Testament was written in the Aramaic
language). Ezra and several others gathered all who wanted to know
about this awesome God and attentively listened to the Book of the
Law spoken to them.
“Now
in the twenty and fourth day of this month the children of Israel
were assembled with fasting, and with sackclothes, and earth upon
them. And the seed of Israel separated themselves from all strangers,
and stood and confessed their sins, and the iniquities of their
fathers. And they stood up in their place, and read in the book of
the law of the LORD their God one fourth part of the day; and another
fourth part they confessed, and worshipped the LORD their God.”
- Nehemiah 9:1-3.
Those who allow Christ to live in and
through them will feel conviction from past or present sins, most
immediately begin to seek forgiveness from God. It is an amazing
feeling to go to God and ask Him for forgiveness and receive it,
knowing that by His grace we are forgiven. When we confess our sins
to God we are just getting the weight of the sin off our shoulders
and one cannot help, but cry, thank God and praise Him for being such
a merciful God. We must make it a point to read and learn all of
God's Word, Old and New Testaments, while we are no longer subject to
the Laws of Moses the principles of being godly and separated from
the world still apply.
“All
scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for
doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in
righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly
furnished unto all good works.”
- 2 Timothy 3:16,17.
As Ezra read to the people they were
reminded of how much God had done for them over the centuries, even
millenniums, from the start of their people with Abraham to their
Exodus in Egypt, to their journey in the wilderness, God was with
them through it all, even when they did not live by the Law.
“Yet
many years didst thou forbear them, and testifiedst against them by
thy spirit in thy prophets: yet would they not give ear: therefore
gavest thou them into the hand of the people of the lands.
Nevertheless for thy great mercies' sake thou didst not utterly
consume them, nor forsake them; for thou art a gracious and merciful
God. Now therefore, our God, the great, the mighty, and the terrible
God, who keepest covenant and mercy, let not all the trouble seem
little before thee, that hath come upon us, on our kings, on our
princes, and on our priests, and on our prophets, and on our fathers,
and on all thy people, since the time of the kings of Assyria unto
this day. And because of all this we make a sure covenant, and write
it; and our princes, Levites, and priests, seal unto it.”
- Nehemiah 9:30-32,38.
Today, it is the seal of the blood of
Jesus Christ that God's great mercy and grace is upon all who believe
in Him. God makes a covenant with all who believe that Jesus, the
sinless Son of God, died on the cross, was buried, and arose from the
dead to pay the price of eternal death for their sins. That covenant
is eternal life with God, never to be forsaken, always merciful and
gracious, no matter how many times they sin after they are saved. God
never said that He would not chasten His people for living in sin,
but He did say that He would never forget those who have the seal of
the blood upon them.
“Nevertheless
the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord
knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of
Christ depart from iniquity. But
in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver,
but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to
dishonour. If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a
vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and
prepared unto every good work.”
- 2 Timothy 2:19-21.
The
completion of the wall provided them with protection from surrounding
enemies and provided them with peace of mind to hear what God had to
say. Those that were sealed wanted to know all of God's Word and
little by little they learned about the generations before them and
how they came to be where they were at present.
“Now
those that sealed were, Nehemiah, the Tirshatha, the son of
Hachaliah, and Zidkijah, And
the rest of the people, the priests, the Levites, the porters, the
singers, the Nethinims, and all they that had separated themselves
from the people of the lands unto the law of God, their wives, their
sons, and their daughters, every one having knowledge, and having
understanding; They clave to their brethren, their nobles, and
entered into a curse, and into an oath, to walk in God's law, which
was given by Moses the servant of God, and to observe and do all the
commandments of the LORD our Lord, and his judgments and his
statutes;”
- Nehemiah 10:1,28,29.
"Entered
into a curse", means that the people vowed to be connected to
the temple as one, meaning that together they were one body of God
and if they were to separate from the temple they would not know how
to face affliction, placing a curse upon themselves. All who accept
Jesus Christ as their Savior are One Body of Christ, we cannot be
separated from God, but it can feel like it to those who are living
in sin or facing affliction. Affliction comes to all, but those who
separate themselves from God in a sense are cursed because they are
trying to figure it out on their own, but all who come to God will
find glory through them.
“Knowing
that he which raised up the Lord Jesus shall raise up us also by
Jesus, and shall present us with you. For all things are for your
sakes, that the abundant grace might through the thanksgiving of many
redound to the glory of God. For which cause we faint not; but though
our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. For
our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far
more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;”
- 2 Corinthians 4:14-17.
Today's
Psalm:
72:14 - “He
shall redeem their soul from deceit and violence: and precious shall
their blood be in his sight.”
Today's Proverb: 28:13 - “He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.”
Today's
Prayer:
Jesus, Thank You for the sacrifice You made by giving Your life so
that I can have eternal life. You shed Your blood so that I did not
have to spend eternity in hell, I believe in all that You are and
that You alone are the only one who can save me. I am sealed by Your
blood and am forever grateful for what You have done for me. Forgive
me for the times I become forgetful of what You have done for me and
continue to do in my life. Help me to keep stay in Your Word and
follow it so that I will not become separated from Your will upon my
life. I love You and pray in Your name, Jesus. Amen.
