Hello
My Friend,
“Blessed
be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to
his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the
resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, To
an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not
away, reserved in heaven for you,..Wherefore gird up the loins of
your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be
brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;..Because
it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy...Seeing ye have purified
your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned
love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart
fervently: Being
born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the
word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.”
- I Peter 1:3,4,13,16,22,23.
God
loves us so much that He willingly forsook all His power as the
Almighty God when He came down to earth as the Son of God. Jesus,
willingly went to God, the Father, not as the Son of God, but as a
man, becoming a servant to all, whether they believed in Him or not.
Why did God lower Himself to become a man? Besides becoming the only
sinless sacrifice that would save mankind, He came here to be an
example for us to follow, whatever He did in the flesh, we can do.
Jesus explains this further as He did something out of the ordinary,
He began washing the disciples feet.
“Jesus
knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that
he was come from God, and went to God; He
riseth from supper, and laid aside his garments; and took a towel,
and girded himself. After that he poureth water into a bason, and
began to wash the disciples' feet, and to wipe them with the towel
wherewith he was girded...Simon Peter saith unto him, Lord, not my
feet only, but also my hands and my head. Jesus saith to him, He that
is washed needeth not save to wash his feet, but is clean every whit:
and ye are clean, but not all..Ye call me Master and Lord: and ye say
well; for so I am. If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your
feet; ye also ought to wash one another's feet. For I have given you
an example, that ye should do as I have done to you. Verily, verily,
I say unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord; neither he
that is sent greater than he that sent him.”
- John 13:3-5,9,10,13-16.
Why did Jesus wash only their feet?
The washing of the disciples feet signified salvation, unless we are
washed by the blood of the Lamb (Christ) we are not a part of Christ
or God. The washing of only their feet signified that
while
they were saved, they were not sinless and because they were not
sinless it was important to spiritually wash themselves
daily to remove any sin that they have encountered. Salvation saves
us from hell, it redeems our soul, but it does not keep us sinless,
we still have to wash our feet by confessing our sins to God. “If
we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins,
and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
- I John 5:19.
While many people do, in fact, believe that
Jesus is the Son of God and died on the cross, it is not enough to
believe in Jesus to be saved, we must also receive Him. The second a
person receives Christ they are redeemed and amazingly, God becomes a
part of their lives. People really have a hard time grasping that
concept, they can not understand how it can be so easy to be saved.
One by one, except for Judas Iscariot, the disciples began to ask
Jesus questions concerning this quite unbelievable concept.
“Thomas
saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we
know the way? Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the
life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. If ye had known me,
ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him,
and have seen him. Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father,
and it sufficeth us. Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time
with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen
me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the
Father? Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in
me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the
Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works. Believe me that I am
in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very
works' sake. Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me,
the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these
shall he do; because I go unto my Father...Judas saith unto him, not
Iscariot, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us,
and not unto the world? Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man
love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we
will come unto him, and make our abode with him. He that loveth me
not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine,
but the Father's which sent me.”
- John 14:5-12,22-24.
Jesus is saying, “I and the Father
are one,” meaning, “I am God, believing in me is believing that I
and the Father are one God, but the only way to know that I am God is
to know me.” The only way to reach God, the Father is through
Christ, the Son. Once we receive the Son, the Father dwells in us,
making us one of His own. “He
that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that
believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the
record that God gave of his Son. And
this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this
life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath
not the Son of God hath not life.”
- I John 5:10-12.
No
matter what situation we are in Jesus is with us and will comfort us
in our time of need, no matter how many times that is, and even if we
submit to authority when we know morally it is wrong. God will give
us a way out of every situation we are in, but it is up to us to ask
Him for help. He has chosen you to be a part of His life, He wants to
wash your feet, cleanse you, and remove the debris that you have been
trying to get rid of. Jesus tells His disciples what the greatest
love of all is.
“As
the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my
love. If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as
I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love. These
things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and
that your joy might be full. This is my commandment, That ye love one
another, as I have loved you. Greater love hath no man than this,
that a man lay down his life for his friends. Ye are my friends, if
ye do whatsoever I command you. Henceforth I call you not servants;
for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called
you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have
made known unto you. Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you,
and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that
your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father
in my name, he may give it you.”
- John 15:9-16.
Christ proved His love toward us by laying
down His life for us, as the Father loved Christ, who was most
worthy, He loves the rest of His children, who are unworthy. His love
for us should always be the standard of measure of our love toward
others, we are to give ourselves to Him as a living sacrifice. “But
ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a
peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who
hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: Which in
time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had
not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.”
- I Peter 2:9,10.
Today's
Prayer:
Dear
God,
Lord, Your grace is sufficient to meet all my needs in the
midst of trouble, hardship, persecution, famine, and danger. I am
truly more than a conqueror because of Your love for me! I choose to
believe Your Word and apply its wondrous truths to my life. I reject
Satan’s lies that seek to convince me that I am an exception to
Your redemptive power or that my troubles can never be repaired by
Your almighty hand. Your power is unbiased, all-reaching, and ever
merciful to those who call upon You in times of trouble. I’m so
grateful that Your sufficiency exceeds my need. Thank you for
salvaging my life by taking my feet and washing them. I love You Lord
and pray in Jesus' name. Amen.
God Bless You, I am praying
for you,
Christina
