spoken by Jesus.
Hello
My Friend,
Did you ever notice that the biggest and most
influential churches in the world are the ones plastered all over
television and the internet? Did you know that more than ¾th
of those churches do not even preach the Gospel? Oh, they tell you
that you need Jesus in your heart and need a personal relationship
with Him, but week after week the same people go to these altars
asking Jesus to come into their heart. How do I know this? I use to
go to one. I will admit that I have gone to the altar several times,
whether it was at church or watching some preacher speak, I do not
know how many times I said the sinners prayer, tried to do the right
thing, but the truth is, it only takes one time to say that prayer to
be saved and doing the right thing did not save me. I was saved only
when I truly believed that Christ would save me, which was on July
10, 2004. “That
if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt
believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou
shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness;
and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”
- Romans 10:9,10.
The
sad thing is that these mega churches only teach half truths, they
don't tell you what you are being saved from, they don't tell you
once saved, always saved, they don't promote a godly lifestyle, they
bring the world into into the church, they often preach from a
version of God's so called word that has taken important doctrine out
of it that we all need to live by, and some even have divorced men
and women heading up the church (yes, this is against doctrine). A
genuine Christian church is grounded on the life, death, burial, and
resurrection of our Lord, Jesus Christ, whom is the only begotten Son
of God, born of a virgin. It bases it's doctrine and teachings on the
entire Bible and follows the New Testament as the only guide to a
personal relationship with Christ, knowing that He is the head of the
church. “even
as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the
body.”
- Ephesians 5:23b.
The
Book of I Timothy is the fifteenth book of the New Testament, the
fifth-fourth book of the Bible and contains six chapters. The author
of this epistle (letter) is Paul and it was written to Timothy, his
son in faith, it was written approximately 63AD. Timothy was a young
pastor, having been left the difficult task of pasturing the church
at Ephesus. The purpose of the letter was to address some of the
problems and needs which existed in the church. What we are to learn
from the book is that not every church is a genuine church of Christ
and we should live our lives as an example of the ministry to which
we have been called. “Let
no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in
word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.”
-I Timothy 4:12.
Paul
wrote Timothy to instruct him in the choice of proper officers in the
church, as well as in the exercise of a regular ministry. He also
wanted to caution him against the influence of false teachers and
ungodly servants in the ministry, who by subtle distinctions and
endless disputes, corrupted the purity and simplicity of the
Gospel.
“As
I besought thee to abide still at Ephesus, when I went into
Macedonia, that thou mightest charge some that they teach no other
doctrine, Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which
minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so
do. Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart,
and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned: From which some
having swerved have turned aside unto vain jangling; Desiring to be
teachers of the law; understanding neither what they say, nor whereof
they affirm. But we know that the law is good, if a man use it
lawfully; Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man,
but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners,
for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of
mothers, for manslayers, For whoremongers, for them that defile
themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured
persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound
doctrine; According to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which
was committed to my trust.”
- I Timothy 1:3-11.
It is important that the church teach the
right doctrine and set the right example for the church, whether we
are a preacher, teacher, or janitor we are representing Christ and
need to always present ourselves as such. Paul
explains to Timothy the roles that men and women have in the church,
“Who
will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the
truth. For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men,
the man Christ Jesus; Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be
testified in due time...In like manner also, that women adorn
themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not
with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array; But (which
becometh women professing godliness) with good works. Let the woman
learn in silence with all subjection. But I suffer not a woman to
teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.”
- I Timothy 2:4-6,9-12.
First of all, they all must be saved
and study God's Word in order to know the truth, a person cannot
teach something if they do not know it themselves. One thing a lot of
people will disagree on is the fact that women are not to be the head
of a church. Women are to be modest and silent in the church, giving
up authority to men, who are to be bishops (preachers) or deacons.
This does not mean that a woman is not allowed to talk to anyone in
church, it means that they are not to speak in authority over men,
nor argue with a man of God over what he teaches. Why do women have
to be silent? This goes all the way back to the Book of Genesis when
Eve was first deceived by the devil and caused Adam to sin. “For
Adam was first formed, then Eve. And Adam was not deceived, but the
woman being deceived was in the transgression. Notwithstanding she
shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity
and holiness with sobriety.”
- I Timothy 2:13-15.
Women are teachers, they have a big
influence on everyone around them, if they are not living a godly
life they will drag everyone else down with them. All throughout the
Bible you will learn of women who influenced
men to sin against God, which caused major problems that stem all the
way down to us today. As a woman I will admit that I have, in the
past, devised some pretty wicked schemes to get back at people, so, I
can attest that I have a big influence on everyone that gets near me.
Yes, I have learned from my mistakes, especially realizing that all
revenge does is cause suffering and pain, not for the person you are
getting back, but for you. Besides now, since I know the truth, I do
not have to worry about what people have done, God will take care of
it for me. “To
me belongeth vengeance, and recompence; their foot shall slide in due
time: for the day of their calamity is at hand, and the things that
shall come upon them make haste.”-
Deuteronomy 32:35.
Regardless of whether we are man or woman,
and work in the ministry or not, we are not perfect, we have this
flesh, we are going to mess up, the great thing is that we can learn
from our mistakes. The hard part is admitting that we did wrong, but
at least we do not have to confess our sins to a priest, all we need
to do is talk to God, He already knows what we did, we just need to
confess it to Him. “For
every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be
received with thanksgiving: For
it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer. If thou put the
brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good
minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of
good doctrine, whereunto thou hast attained.”
- I Timothy 4:4-6.
If you have not done so, I advise you, as a
minister of Jesus Christ, learn the truth of the Gospel, get a real
Bible, find a Bible based church, and see how God will work in your
life as you grow in Christ. If you are saved, keep going, “Fight
the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art
also called, and hast professed a good profession before many
witnesses.”
- I Timothy 6:12.
Today's
Prayer:
Dear
God,
It is still amazing to get up every morning knowing that it
is no longer I who lives, but Christ who lives in me. He has turned
my life completely around as I learn the truth from Your Word and
live in obedience to it. I know I am saved and that I do not have to
live in obedience to You because I am trusting in Your Son to save
me. But I am going to live in obedience to You because I am grateful
and thankful to You for loving me and not giving up on me when You
had every right to. Lord, I know I am going to mess up, but I am
trusting You to lead me and guide me in whatever will that You have
for me. Show me the way, help me understand, and never let me cease
from developing that personal relationship with Christ that shows me
I can do all things through Him. I ask this in Jesus' name. Amen.
God Bless You, I am praying for you,
Christina
