Scripture quoted comes from the King James Version, words in red are
quoted by Jesus.
Hello
My Friend,
“Now
it came to pass on a certain day, that he went into a ship with his
disciples: and he said unto them, Let
us go over unto the other side of the lake.
And they launched forth. But
as they sailed he fell asleep: and there came down a storm of wind on
the lake; and they were filled with water, and were in jeopardy. And
they came to him, and awoke him, saying, Master, master, we perish.
Then he arose, and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water: and
they ceased, and there was a calm. And he said unto them,
Where
is your faith?
And
they being afraid wondered, saying one to another, What manner of man
is this! for he commandeth even the winds and water, and they obey
him.”
- Luke 8:22-25.
As Christians, when we are in the storms of
life it can be a little trying to our faith, especially when we are
doing everything right and it seems nothing improves, or even gets
worse. We can get frustrated, discouraged, depressed, sometimes get a
little angry with God and question Him as to why He is allowing it to
happen. However, no matter what we are going through God loves us and
is with us, He uses every situation to strengthen us, grow us,
increase our faith in Him, bring us closer to Him, and show us that
with Christ leading the way, every storm will come to pass with a
little bit of faith. “For
whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the
victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. Who
is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is
the Son of God?”
- 1 John 5:4,5.
For the past week all we have been reading
about is the destruction of the earth, I remember when I first
started reading the Bible how much I avoided reading the Book of
Revelation, mostly because I was listening to what others were
telling me rather than read it myself. It's like a horror film coming
to life, but we do not have to be scared, as long as we have Jesus we
will be safe and sound and just like every storm, it will subside.
Jesus reveals to John what will happen after all the earth, the
beast, every wicked person faces God's wrath.
“And
I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of
heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a
great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is
with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people,
and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. And God shall
wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more
death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more
pain: for the former things are passed away. And he that sat upon the
throne said, Behold,
I make all things new.
And
he said unto me,
Write:
for these words are true and faithful.
And
he said unto me,
It
is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give
unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.
He
that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and
he shall be my son.
But
the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and
whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have
their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which
is the second death.”
- Revelation 21:2-8.
If you have received Christ as your
Savior, you are a child of God, you have the victory, you are one of
His very own because you believed in His Son. You believe that God's
only Son, who was sinless took the punishment for all your sins, and
that He suffered and died, and shed His precious blood to save your
life. Christ defeated death and arose three days later to prove that
even death cannot get the victory over the power of God. While we
often suffer for things without sin, in the end we always see the
victory through the power of God. “Blessed
be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to
his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the
resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, To an inheritance
incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in
heaven for you, Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto
salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.”
- 1 Peter 1:3-5. Praise God!
The second death would be the
death of the soul, when the spirit, which is the life of the flesh,
leaves the body this is the first death, what is left is the soul,
the soul has only one of two places it can go, heaven or hell. If the
soul does not have the Spirit of God upon it it will be cast into the
lake of fire, hence, the second death. If the soul does have the
Spirit of God upon it it will go to heaven and upon Judgment Day it
will be united with it's body, a new body, in fact, a glorious,
immortal body is given to us to live on the new earth, corrupt free,
with no more pain and suffering. “For
our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the
Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall change our vile body, that
it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the
working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.”
- Philippians 3:20,21.
Now, Jesus gives John a glimpse of
what we have to look forward to in the Kingdom of God, “And
he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal,
proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb. In
the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was
there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and
yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for
the healing of the nations. And there shall be no more curse: but the
throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall
serve him: And they shall see his face; and his name shall be in
their foreheads. And there shall be no night there; and they need no
candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light:
and they shall reign for ever and ever.”
- Revelation 22:1-5.
What
a sight! Streets of gold, crystal rivers, walls made from precious
stones, trees yielding endless fruit, above all freed from the sin
curse that we were all subject to just days after God created the
earth. It's not too late, Jesus is inviting all to come and join Him
to the wedding feast. “And
the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say,
Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him
take the water of life freely. For
I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of
this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto
him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall
take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take
away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and
from the things which are written in this book. He which testifieth
these things saith,
Surely
I come quickly.
Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.”
- Revelation 22:17-20.
Remember, the bride is the Church,
which make up the body of Christ, our Lamb. All who believe in and
ask Christ to save them will get to be a part of Christ's Kingdom.
Praise God! There is a stern warning here to all those who have taken
out or added words to His book. Every word down to the very last thee
and thou is written in His book for a particular reason, otherwise it
would not have been in there. Yes, men penned the Bible, but it is
all inspired, meaning the Holy Spirit told them what to write. “All
scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for
doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in
righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly
furnished unto all good works.”
- 2 Timothy 3:16,17.
Yes, we can do studies such as these,
but these are studies on the book, not rewriting the book it self.
God rejoices at the fact that we are discussing and learning about
His Word together, He does not rejoice at those who rewrite His Word
to suit their own needs. Of course, we cannot read the Bible in a
year and know everything about God, He did not design it that way. He
designed it so we read it year after year and learn something new
every year. We are truly blessed to know God's Word, to know His
mysteries and to see everything come to pass as prophesied. “But
as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have
entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for
them that love him. But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit:
for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.”
- 1 Corinthians 2:9,10. Praise God!
Today's
Prayer:
God,
We
seek to be unwavering in our faith and confident in Your plans for
our life as we stand on Your unending promises. You promise never to
never leave us nor forsake us, You carefully guide us through every
storm as we cling to Your Son. You are faithful and we are grateful
that we can stand on the Solid Rock, to keep us safe and sound until
every storm comes to pass and we see victory. In Jesus' name.
Amen.
God Bless You, I am praying for you,
Happy New
Year!
Christina
