Hello
My Friend,
“What
doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have
not works? can faith save him? If
a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food, And one of
you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled;
notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to
the body; what doth it profit? Even so faith, if it hath not works,
is dead, being alone. Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have
works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my
faith by my works. Thou
believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also
believe, and tremble. But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith
without works is dead?”
-James 2:14-20.
Without faith it is impossible to get God to
do anything for you, but it is not enough to have faith, we must take
the steps needed to help that faith along. For example, say you are
in need of a job, by faith you are trusting God to give you a job,
but if you never fill out an application or let anyone know you are
interested in the job then you will not get the job. Likewise, it is
only by faith that we obtain salvation, but if you do not ask Him to
save you than you will not be saved. Satan himself knows and believes
that there is only One God and that Christ is the only way to
salvation. How is it that Christ is the only way to salvation? He is
the only one to lay down His life to save mankind. Besides that, He
is the only one who can save mankind. Why? Because He became the
sinless sacrifice, the sacrificial lamb that was needed by law for a
person to be redeemed from the consequences of sin.
Satan
tried his best to put a stop to the One Man who had the power to cast
him into hell, he did this by trying to alter the prophecies
concerning His death, burial, and resurrection. Yes, Satan knows
Scripture and had any part of the prophecy been altered it would have
discredited God and His Word, making our need for a Savior null and
void. However, His death, burial, and resurrection came to pass just
as it was foretold through the Scriptures. Pilate,
the governor, did not want to crucify Jesus, in fact, he was a bit
scared to even give the order once he heard that people were calling
Him the Son of God, but he reluctantly gave into their demands.
“And
from thenceforth Pilate sought to release him: but the Jews cried
out, saying, If thou let this man go, thou art not Caesar's friend:
whosoever maketh himself a king speaketh against Caesar. When Pilate
therefore heard that saying, he brought Jesus forth, and sat down in
the judgment seat in a place that is called the Pavement, but in the
Hebrew, Gabbatha. And it was the preparation of the passover, and
about the sixth hour: and he saith unto the Jews, Behold your
King!..And Pilate wrote a title, and put it on the cross. And the
writing was, JESUS OF NAZARETH THE KING OF THE JEWS...Then the
soldiers, when they had crucified Jesus, took his garments, and made
four parts, to every soldier a part; and also his coat: now the coat
was without seam, woven from the top throughout. They
said therefore among themselves, Let us not rend it, but cast lots
for it, whose it shall be: that the scripture might be fulfilled,
which saith, They parted my raiment among them, and for my vesture
they did cast lots. These things therefore the soldiers did.”
- John 19:12-14,19,23,24.
Many things done by the Roman
soldiers fulfilling the prophecies of the Old Testament, knowing they
were written in the Bible. All things written in the Bible were, are,
and will be fulfilled in the years to come. People have the
assumption that God is done fulfilling the promises that He foretold
long ago, this is false, every prophecy written in the Old and New
Testaments will come to pass. God and His Word is just as alive today
and is just as powerful as it was two thousand years ago. While it is
not feasible to quote Scripture every time you talk to someone, it
will put someone in their place. And I mean Scripture straight from
the Bible, not some book telling you what the Bible says. “For
the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged
sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and
of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and
intents of the heart.”
- Hebrews 4:12.
More prophecies are fulfilled concerning
Christ' death on the cross, “After
this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the
scripture might be fulfilled, saith, I thirst. Now there was set a
vessel full of vinegar: and they filled a spunge with vinegar, and
put it upon hyssop, and put it to his mouth. When Jesus therefore had
received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head,
and gave up the ghost. The Jews therefore, because it was the
preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the
sabbath day, (for that sabbath day was an high day,) besought Pilate
that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.
Then came the soldiers, and brake the legs of the first, and of the
other which was crucified with him. But when they came to Jesus, and
saw that he was dead already, they brake not his legs: But one of the
soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out
blood and water. And he that saw it bare record, and his record is
true: and he knoweth that he saith true, that ye might believe. For
these things were done, that the scripture should be fulfilled, A
bone of him shall not be broken. And again another scripture saith,
They shall look on him whom they pierced.”
- John 19:28-37.
Perhaps the most powerful words ever spoken
by Jesus were the last words He spoke before He died, “It is
finished.” His
sufferings were now finished, both those of His soul, and those of
His body. Jesus came for one reason and one reason only, to give His
life as the ransom needed to be set free from death and hell. “For
this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who
will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the
truth. For
there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man
Christ Jesus; Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in
due time.”
- Timothy 2:3-6.
Satan thought he won, but even death cannot
stop the power of God, three days later, just as it was foretold,
Jesus arose from the dead. Later that night Jesus showed up in a room
where the disciples were hiding from the Jews, “Then
the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the
doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the
Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace
be unto you. And
when he had so said, he shewed unto them his hands and his side. Then
were the disciples glad, when they saw the Lord. Then said Jesus to
them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so
send I you. And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith
unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost: Whose soever sins ye remit,
they are remitted unto them; and whose soever sins ye retain, they
are retained...And
many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples,
which are not written in this book: But
these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ,
the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his
name.”
- John 20:19-23,30,31.
How interesting is it to first, learn
that the disciples no longer thought of themselves as Jews or
Gentiles, they were Christians, followers of Christ. His promise,
everlasting life to all who believe in Him, no matter how many sins
they commit after they receive the Holy Spirit in them. The same is
true for all who believe in Jesus and took that step to ask Him to
save them. The Holy Spirit only comes to us after we are saved and no
matter how many sins we commit after the Holy Spirit dwells in us, we
are still saved. That is God's promise for all who believe that, “it
is finished”. “Let
your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such
things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor
forsake thee. So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I
will not fear what man shall do unto me.”
- Hebrews 13:5,6. Praise God!
Today's
Prayer:
Dear
God,
There is nothing more powerful that Your Word, no matter how
many people try to alter You Word or alter our perception of Your
Word it always remains as it is written. It is comforting to know
that when You have a plan You stop at nothing for it to come to pass,
including Your plan for me. Thank You for loving me and not giving up
on me, for waiting patiently for me to learn the truth and receive
Your Son by simply asking Him to come into my life. Thank You Jesus,
for dying for me, for redeeming me, and for making me one of Your
very own. I love You Lord, and pray in Jesus' name. Amen.
God
Bless You, I am praying for you,
Christina
