Deuteronomy
29
Hello My Friend,
Religious people often think of
themselves
as holy people, regardless of the religion they think they are
entitled to the privileges of God by right, while being ungrateful,
rebellious, and unrighteous. Religion does not save a person, all
must realize that all are under the judgment of God the privileges of
God will be according to our faith and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ
and Him alone. “Who
will render to every man according to his deeds:.Tribulation
and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew
first, and also of the Gentile; But glory, honour, and peace, to
every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the
Gentile: For there is no respect of persons with God. For as many as
have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as
have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law;..In the day when
God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my
gospel.”
- Romans 2:6,9-12,16.
Moses
had repeated most of the commands which the children of Israel and
the stranger among them were to observe as part of the covenant,
which God made long ago to Abraham, Issac, and Jacob. God's promises
and warnings in which He would follow His part of the covenant were
also repeated along with some incredible prophecies. Moses urges
Israel to keep the words of the covenant with them always.
“And
Moses called unto all Israel, and said unto them, Ye have seen all
that the LORD did before your eyes in the land of Egypt unto Pharaoh,
and unto all his servants, and unto all his land; The
great temptations which thine eyes have seen, the signs, and those
great miracles: Yet the LORD hath not given you an heart to perceive,
and eyes to see, and ears to hear, unto this day...Ye
have not eaten bread, neither have ye drunk wine or strong drink:
that ye might know that I am the LORD your God...Keep therefore the
words of this covenant, and do them, that ye may prosper in all that
ye do. Ye stand this day all of you before the LORD your God; your
captains of your tribes, your elders, and your officers, with all the
men of Israel, Your
little ones, your wives, and thy stranger that is in thy camp, from
the hewer of thy wood unto the drawer of thy water: That thou
shouldest enter into covenant with the LORD thy God, and into his
oath, which the LORD thy God maketh with thee this day: ”
- Deuteronomy 29:2-4,6,9-12.
As born again believers we need
to never forget the promise God made with us and to keep the words of
that covenant, which He made with us through Jesus Christ, with us
always. Those who do not even acknowledge God after they get saved
truly have no idea who God is, let alone Jesus, many barely even
remember that they got saved. The flesh is weak and unless we have
God's Word with us always the flesh will always win and take us right
back where we were. “For
the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from
the law of sin and death. For
what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God
sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin,
condemned sin in the flesh: That the righteousness of the law might
be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the
Spirit. For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the
flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.”
- Romans 8:2-5.
God
is not a respecter of persons, from the beginning, although He chose
Israel as the people to make known that He is the only living God, He
welcomed anyone who wasn't of the tribes of Israel to join them as
long as they accepted the covenant with God as well (made Him their
God and followed the commands and statutes of the law). Just as
Israel was subject to the law should they accept God, so was the
stranger, should they reject it the same fate was given them as well.
Moses explains this further.
“Neither
with you only do I make this covenant and this oath; But with him
that standeth here with us this day before the LORD our God, and also
with him that is not here with us this day: (For ye know how we have
dwelt in the land of Egypt; and how we came through the nations which
ye passed by; And ye have seen their abominations, and their idols,
wood and stone, silver and gold, which were among them:) Lest there
should be among you man, or woman, or family, or tribe, whose heart
turneth away this day from the LORD our God, to go and serve the gods
of these nations; lest there should be among you a root that beareth
gall and wormwood; And it come to pass, when he heareth the words of
this curse, that he bless himself in his heart, saying, I shall have
peace, though I walk in the imagination of mine heart, to add
drunkenness to thirst: The LORD will not spare him, but then the
anger of the LORD and his jealousy shall smoke against that man, and
all the curses that are written in this book shall lie upon him, and
the LORD shall blot out his name from under heaven.”
- Deuteronomy 29:14-20.
Jew, Gentile, Catholic, Jehovah's
Witness, Mormon, Muslim, Atheist, whatever you call yourself, unless
you have accepted the covenant with God, that is salvation through
the Jesus Christ alone, than your name will be blotted out of God's
Book of life and cast into hell and the lake of fire. “And
the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and
brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be
tormented day and night for ever and ever...And death and hell were
cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And
whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the
lake of fire.”
- Revelation 20:10,14,15.
Moses encouraged all to accept the
covenant with God, reminding them that God is good, righteous, and
just, but also reminding them that if they go against the covenant,
particularly idolatry, then all nations will know the wrath of God
and question His motives for such actions.
“Even
all nations shall say, Wherefore hath the LORD done thus unto this
land? what meaneth the heat of this great anger? Then men shall say,
Because they have forsaken the covenant of the LORD God of their
fathers, which he made with them when he brought them forth out of
the land of Egypt: For they went and served other gods, and
worshipped them, gods whom they knew not, and whom he had not given
unto them: And the anger of the LORD was kindled against this land,
to bring upon it all the curses that are written in this book: And
the LORD rooted them out of their land in anger, and in wrath, and in
great indignation, and cast them into another land, as it is this
day. The
secret things belong unto the LORD our God: but those things which
are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may
do all the words of this law.”
- Deuteronomy 29-24-29.
God reveals enough information for us
through His Word to be saved, to know of His work, and to live
according to His Word. The world loves to call out and play God, but
time and time again God proves them wrong. The world opposes
everything God and will do everything it can to discredit Him while
making themselves a god and sadly all over the world we see God's
anger unfold as nations try to take God out of existence. This
is only the beginning of what Jesus said would happen, “And
when ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars, be ye not troubled:
for
such
things
must
needs be; but the end
shall
not
be
yet.
For
nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and
there shall be earthquakes in divers places, and there shall be
famines and troubles: these
are
the
beginnings of sorrows.”
- Mark 13:7,8.
I was glancing over an article the other day
that came up about Homeland Security targeting Christians. The
article quoted, “Anti-government
conspiracy theories and “end
times” prophecies could motivate extremist individuals and groups
to stockpile food,
ammunition, and weapons.”
Simply
put, any Christian who believes in the end time prophecy of the
Second Coming of Christ who stores food would be labeled as a
terrorist. I have even heard of Christians telling people not to
speak of these things going on today as relating to the prophecy. The
truth is God is in control of all the things going on in the world
today, He is warning every nation the same things He warned Israel
and look at Israel even today. We need to heed His warnings and reach
as many people with the Gospel as we can because Jesus is coming.
“The
Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count
slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any
should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”
- 2 Peter 3:9.
Today's
Psalm:
27:1 - “The
LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the
strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?”
Today's Proverb: 20:22 - “Say not thou, I will recompense evil; but wait on the LORD, and he shall save thee.”
Today's
Prayer:
God, as
we faithfully serve You it is not for our fulfillment, but for the
fulfillment of the Great Commission that the Gospel message be
delivered at home and to other family and friends. No matter what our
Christian service, whether great or small, when it is offered in Your
name it brings great rewards, often visible here and now, but at
times unseen by the human eye. Help us to speak the Gospel of Christ
with confidence as we walk in obedience to Your commands. In Jesus'
name. Amen.
Enjoy
the rest of your day/night.
God
Bless You, I am praying for you,
Christina

Join us as we read through the Bible and study God's Word.
From the Book of Genesis to the Book of Revelation we find encouragement, inspiration, grace, and from time to time even some conviction as we learn and grow in His Word day by day.
