Hello
My Friend,
The word infirmity is defined as a physical
or moral
weakness,
or failing at something. We all have infirmities of some sort and
while they may make us feel as though we are a failure God sees them
as victories. Weakness brings us closer to God, it not only puts us
in a place to seek His power, it also brings life to us. Think about
it. When you feel as though you have failed you feel awful and kind
of dead inside and do not want to do anything, but when you succeed
you feel great and lively inside, as though you can do anything. That
success comes from our total dependence on God. We are dependent upon
God to save us by grace alone, why wouldn't He give us everything
else we need by that same dependence?
“For
we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a
man seeth, why doth he yet hope for? But
if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it.
Likewise
the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we
should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh
intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he
that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit,
because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will
of God. And we know that all things work together for good to them
that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”
- Romans 8:24-28.
So,
how do we find that total dependence on God? First, we need to give
ourselves over to Him, the more we give ourselves over to Him, the
more dependent we become. Paul explains the necessity of being a
cheerful giver.
“But
this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and
he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. Every
man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not
grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. And God
is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having
all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work: (As it
is written, He hath dispersed abroad; he hath given to the poor: his
righteousness remaineth for ever. Now he that ministereth seed to the
sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed sown,
and increase the fruits of your righteousness;) Being enriched in
every thing to all bountifulness, which causeth through us
thanksgiving to God. For the administration of this service not only
supplieth the want of the saints, but is abundant also by many
thanksgivings unto God;”
- II Corinthians 9:6-12.
The Bible teaches us that we are to
tithe ten percent of our worth to God, today that would be the money
you earn for your labor, give less than ten percent and you get
blessed with less than ten percent of God's blessings, give more and
you will be blessed according to that number, by the way, giving to
God is more than just giving money, it is also giving your time. So,
if we were to give just ten percent of your time to God that would be
two hours and forty minutes a day. Can you give two hours and forty
minutes to God each day? It only needs to start with one and before
you know it you can spend hours with God sometimes. We are to never
grow weary of seeking God, with faith, “But
without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to
God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that
diligently seek him.”
-Hebrews 11:6.
Why is it so important to have total
dependence on God? We are fighting a battle, a spiritual battle
between God and Satan, God is trying to keep us from the corruption
of the world, Satan is trying to keep us from reaching the lost. Paul
explains this further.
“Now
I Paul myself beseech you by the meekness and gentleness of Christ,
who in presence am base among you, but being absent am bold toward
you: But I beseech you, that I may not be bold when I am present with
that confidence, wherewith I think to be bold against some, which
think of us as if we walked according to the flesh. For though we
walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of
our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling
down of strong holds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high
thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing
into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; And having
in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is
fulfilled.”
- II Corinthians 10:1-6.
The more dependent we get of God the
harder it is for Satan to corrupt us and Satan will do anything,
including twist God's Word, just a little bit to get us to lose our
dependence on God. Paul continues to warn us to avoid things that
corrupt our thinking, “But
I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his
subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that
is in Christ. For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we
have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not
received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might
well bear with him. For I suppose I was not a whit behind the very
chiefest apostles...For such are false apostles, deceitful workers,
transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.”
- II Corinthians 11:3-5,13..
Our
only victory through our infirmities, through Satan's temptations,
and waiting patiently for God is Christ, the only way to know the
truth for yourself is to know Christ yourself, which can only happen
if you ask Him to come into your heart. If you know Christ and give
yourself to Him you have the power to overcome any physical or moral
weakness. If you are questioning your faith think about what Paul
said, “Examine
yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know
ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be
reprobates? But I trust that ye shall know that we are not
reprobates. Now I pray to God that ye do no evil; not that we should
appear approved, but that ye should do that which is honest, though
we be as reprobates. For we can do nothing against the truth, but for
the truth.”
- II Corinthians 13:5-8.
The word reprobate means to be
rejected
by
God
and
beyond
any hope
of
salvation.
While God wants to see everyone in heaven with Him, He knows that
there are some that are too wicked and will never see salvation. He
also knows who are His and the amazing thing is that our greatest
victory over anything that Satan will corrupt us with is being one of
God's people. Praise God! “He
that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and
he shall be my son. But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the
abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and
idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which
burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”
- Revelation 21:7,8.
Today's
Prayer:
Dear
God,
No matter how many times I get it in my head that You want me
to handle my problems by myself You remind me that I need to depend
on You if I want to see an end to them. You want me to seek You,
especially in my weakness, which is the only way I truly draw nigh to
You, but I do not want my weakness to be the only reason to draw nigh
to You, I want to be totally dependent upon You in everything that I
do. Lord, search my heart, know my thoughts, if there be any wicked
way in me lead me in the way everlasting, help me to stay in Your
Word, learn it, follow it, and never cease from praying, it's my only
victory over my infirmities. I love You Lord and ask these things in
Jesus' name. Amen.
God Bless You, I am praying for
you,
Christina
