The key to getting the the things we are in need of is trusting God,
but much too often people are quick to sell themselves out because
they fear tomorrow. Instead
of worrying about tomorrow it is time to let God lead one day at a
time. All
Scripture quoted from the King James Version.
Hello
My Friend,
One of the amazing things about God is that He
always provides for His children. The word provision means, the
providing
or supplying of food or other necessities.
Necessities are something
that is absolutely
necessary.
God always provides us with the necessities, food, shelter, water,
clothes, etc. Trusting in God not only sends us the provisions we
need, it also sends us the things we desire as well. “Trust
in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily
thou shalt be fed. Delight thyself also in the LORD: and he shall
give thee the desires of thine heart. Commit thy way unto the LORD;
trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass...Rest in the LORD,
and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who
prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices
to pass. The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he
delighteth in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast
down: for the LORD upholdeth him with his hand.”
- Psalm 37:3-5,7,23,24.
When Joseph was sold as a slave by
his own brothers he had no idea what would become of his life, a
couple of dreams showed him what his life would be like, but when
that would happen he wasn't sure of. He never gave up hope of those
dreams, trusting that God would make them come true one day. Now,
fifteen years later, those dreams were a reality, his brothers were
bowing down to him (unknowing that it was him), confessing what they
had did to their brother. After
Joseph heard Judah's confession he revealed to them who he was their
brother.
“Then
Joseph could not refrain himself before all them that stood by him;
and he cried, Cause every man to go out from me. And there stood no
man with him, while Joseph made himself known unto his brethren...And
Joseph said unto his brethren, Come near to me, I pray you. And they
came near. And he said, I am Joseph your brother, whom ye sold into
Egypt. Now
therefore be not grieved, nor angry with yourselves, that ye sold me
hither: for God did send me before you to preserve life. For these
two years hath the famine been in the land: and yet there are five
years, in the which there shall neither be earing nor harvest. And
God sent me before you to preserve you a posterity in the earth, and
to save your lives by a great deliverance. So now it was not you that
sent me hither, but God: and he hath made me a father to Pharaoh, and
lord of all his house, and a ruler throughout all the land of Egypt.”
- Genesis 45:1,4-8.
Can
you imagine the look on their faces and what fear they had after
realizing that he was telling the truth? Yet, Joseph was not angry,
he did not tell them I told you so, he simply told them to forgive
themselves, assuring them that it was God's plan all along. Although
his brothers were cruel, God used their wickedness to set the path
for Joseph's life to be used in a great way. There is truly nothing
to fear when we are facing circumstances beyond our control. God is
always in control, He is all knowing, always forgiving, and blesses
all who fear Him, not our circumstances. Do not be afraid to go
forward, just put your trust in God and He will take care of the
rest, regardless of your past. “Trust
in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own
understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct
thy paths. Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart
from evil.”
- Proverbs 3:5-7.
Nothing brings life to a broken spirit than
trusting in God, not the time had come for Jacob to find out that his
beloved Joseph was alive. I do not think I would want to be his
brothers when they had to tell their father what they had done, but
nevertheless, they manned up and told Jacob the truth.
“So
he sent his brethren away, and they departed: and he said unto them,
See that ye fall not out by the way. And
they went up out of Egypt, and came into the land of Canaan unto
Jacob their father, And told him, saying, Joseph is yet alive, and he
is governor over all the land of Egypt. And Jacob's heart fainted,
for he believed them not. And they told him all the words of Joseph,
which he had said unto them: and when he saw the wagons which Joseph
had sent to carry him, the spirit of Jacob their father revived: And
Israel said, It is enough; Joseph my son is yet alive: I will go and
see him before I die.”
-Genesis 45:24-28.
After
fifteen years of thinking that his son was dead, Jacob found out that
he was not only alive, but was also the governor in Egypt. Although
Canaan was the land that God promised the Jews, the famine hit so
hard that the only place to get food was Egypt, thanks to Joseph, who
prepared for it. I imagine that Joseph's intentions were to keep them
in Egypt until the famine was over, but it was during the famine that
they sold themselves out for fear that they would starve, both
Egyptians and Jews found out that money was worthless.
“And
Joseph gathered up all the money that was found in the land of Egypt,
and in the land of Canaan, for the corn which they bought: and Joseph
brought the money into Pharaoh's house. And when money failed in the
land of Egypt, and in the land of Canaan, all the Egyptians came unto
Joseph, and said, Give us bread: for why should we die in thy
presence? for the money faileth...And Joseph bought all the land of
Egypt for Pharaoh; for the Egyptians sold every man his field,
because the famine prevailed over them: so the land became
Pharaoh's...Then Joseph said unto the people, Behold, I have bought
you this day and your land for Pharaoh: lo, here is seed for you, and
ye shall sow the land. And it shall come to pass in the increase,
that ye shall give the fifth part unto Pharaoh, and four parts shall
be your own, for seed of the field, and for your food, and for them
of your households, and for food for your little ones. And they said,
Thou hast saved our lives: let us find grace in the sight of my lord,
and we will be Pharaoh's servants.”
-Genesis 47:14,15,20.23-25.
This agreement, caused trouble
for the Jews as it was this agreement that made them slaves to the
Egyptians after Joseph died. They sold themselves for bread, they
lost their freedom, and became slaves to Pharaoh because none of them
trusted in God to provide for them. In
a sense they sold their souls to the devil, people who live in the
world have the mentality that money can keep them from dying, from
famine, or even from hell, but they fail to realize that money is
worthless. Money cannot bring water when there is none to take from
the lakes, it cannot bring food when there is no water to make things
grow, it can not keep us from dying, and it certainly cannot keep us
from hell. There is only one person that can keep us from hell and
provide us with everything we need, even our desires and that is
Jesus Christ. “These
things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of
God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may
believe on the name of the Son of God. And
this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing
according to his will, he heareth us: And if we know that he hear us,
whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired
of him.”
-1 John 5:13-15.
Today's
Psalm:
“These
wait all upon thee; that thou mayest give them their meat in due
season.”
- Psalm 104:27.
Today's Proverb: “The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe.” -Proverbs 29:25.
Today's
Prayer:
God,
You have placed us on a journey of faith where we learn to trust You
for all that we have need of, for the present and the future, in our
relationships, our health, our provisions and our spiritual needs.
I'm so glad I learned to trust You with my life, now, help me learn
to trust You in every area of my life, through all the circumstances
I face, even when things look hopeless, I know You are there and will
always take care of me. In Jesus' name. Amen.
Enjoy
the rest of your day/night.
God
Bless You, I am praying for you,
Christina
