Today's
Chapters:
1
Chronicles 5-6
Hello My Friend,
Every person who
accepts Jesus Christ as their Savior becomes part of the body of
Christ, once the person embraces that and starts living their lives
with God in it they learn to use the skills and talents God gives
them for God. While He will place some people in the ministry to work
for Him, the majority of people will be used outside of His ministry.
Why? What better way for God to add people to the church than to get
them from people that come out of the church. “There
is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of
your calling; One
Lord, one faith, one baptism, One God and Father of all, who is above
all, and through all, and in you all. But unto every one of us is
given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ. And
he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists;
and some, pastors and teachers; For
the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the
edifying of the body of Christ:”
- Ephesians 4:4-7,11,12.
Chapter 5 of 1 Chronicles relates to
the genealogy
of the tribes of Israel that lived on the other side of the Jordan,
the Reubenites, Gadites, and the half tribe of Manasseh. In the midst
of all the names we learn of God's hand in helping them win a war
with the Hagarites, also known as the Ishmaelites. “The
sons of Reuben, and the Gadites, and half the tribe of Manasseh, of
valiant men, men able to bear buckler and sword, and to shoot with
bow, and skilful in war, were four and forty thousand seven hundred
and threescore, that went out to the war. And
they made war with the Hagarites, with Jetur, and Nephish, and Nodab.
And they were helped against them, and the Hagarites were delivered
into their hand, and all that were with them: for they cried to God
in the battle, and he was intreated of them; because they put their
trust in him. And they took away their cattle; of their camels fifty
thousand, and of sheep two hundred and fifty thousand, and of asses
two thousand, and of men an hundred thousand. For there fell down
many slain, because the war was of God. And they dwelt in their
steads until the captivity.”
- 1 Chronicles 5:18-22.
These men were skilled archers
capable of winning battles, but they often fought against each other
because they were more focused on possessions and wealth rather than
God. These
tribes were the first groups taken captive by the king of Assyria,
because they had forsaken God for their possessions. God gives us the
skills we have to be used to give Him gory, while it is perfectly
fine to use them for prosperity, we must not forget God's hand in
making these things possible. Once God is forgotten possessions get
taken away, and believe it or not, so does freedom. However, God will
never leave nor forsake a person that loses sight of Him for any
reason, He might take things way, but is willing to give more when we
acknowledge Him. “Every
man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it,
because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every
man's work of what sort it is. If
any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive
a reward. If
any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself
shall be saved; yet so as by fire.”
- 1 Corinthians 3:13-15.
Now, chapter 6 of
1 Chronicles begins with the
fathers and heads of the tribe of Levi, and gives an account of the
families of the sons of Levi, and of those Levites who were employed
as singers, and in other ministrations in the sanctuary during the
times of David and Solomon. “Shimea
his son, Haggiah his son, Asaiah his son. And
these are they whom David set over the service of song in the house
of the LORD, after that the ark had rest. And they ministered before
the dwelling place of the tabernacle of the congregation with
singing, until Solomon had built the house of the LORD in Jerusalem:
and then they waited on their office according to their order. And
these are they that waited with their children. Of the sons of the
Kohathites: Heman a singer, the son of Joel, the son of Shemuel,
Their
brethren also the Levites were appointed unto all manner of service
of the tabernacle of the house of God. But
Aaron and his sons offered upon the altar of the burnt offering, and
on the altar of incense, and were appointed for all the work of the
place most holy, and to make an atonement for Israel, according to
all that Moses the servant of God had commanded.”
- 1 Chronicles 6:30-33,48,49.
For the few that God uses to
work in His ministry, there is always an abundance of service to be
done by God’s children in His house. From janitorial work, to
teaching, to singing, to being a pastor or a pastor's wife, every
skill God gives them to be used in the ministry is important. “Now
there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. And there are
differences of administrations, but the same Lord. And there are
diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all
in all. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to
profit withal.”
- 1 Corinthians 12:4-7.
Aaron
and his sons were given the task of receiving the offerings for
atonement and thanksgiving to God, but before they could even accept
the offerings they had to go through a rigorous cleansing first,
otherwise, the offerings would not be accepted. The same still
applies today, if we are not cleansed our offerings to God will not
be accepted. There is only one way to be cleansed and that is
salvation through Jesus Christ, after that God will accept us and the
work we do for Him will be blessed. “Neither
by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in
once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.
For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer
sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh:
How
much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit
offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead
works to serve the living God? And for this cause he is the mediator
of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of
the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which
are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.”
- Hebrews 9:12-15.
Today's
Psalm:
33:15 - “He
fashioneth their hearts alike; he considereth all their works.”
Today's Proverb: 16:3 - “Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.”
Today's
Prayer:
God, Thank You for sending Your Son Jesus to save me, cleanse me, and
make me one of Yours. You have given me many skills and talents over
the years and while I do not understand all the uses of them for You
I do understand that You have a reason and purpose for them. What
makes it even more wonderful is that You even let me use them to
provide for me and my family. Lord, lead me and guide me, show me how
and where to use the skills, talents, and gifts that You have given
me to be used for Your glory. Never let me forget that it is not how
much I serve You or even where I serve You that matters most to You,
it's serving You with my whole heart that matters. In Jesus' name.
Amen.
Enjoy
the rest of your day/night.
God
Bless You, I am praying for you,
Christina
