Having
trouble forgiving yourself?
There
may be things or events from the past that seem to haunt you,
sometimes for years, but the reason they haunt you is not because God
has not forgiven you, you have not forgiven you. How can you move on
with your life and enjoy the full amount of blessings that God has in
store for you if you do not forgive and forget the things that you
use to do. Actually, Satan is playing a part in this, he is trying to
convince you that you are not worthy of God's love or anyone's love
for that matter. Tell him to get lost and that God is with you! It's
time to move forward, you can not change the past, but you can change
today. So, you did not live a godly life or you did something that
you are ashamed of, it's over and done with, it's a new day, move on,
ask God to forgive you once and for all for dwelling on the past. I
guarantee you that the second do this a huge weight will be off your
shoulders and a new you will emerge.
Having
trouble forgiving someone?
I can understand that there are
things that someone may have done to you or a loved one that may be
completely unforgivable, but you can not let these things haunt you.
Holding on to anger only makes things worse on you and your loved
ones. You must learn to forgive every thing that has happened, it's
the only way you can move on. If one can not forgive then one can not
move on to bigger and better things.
We will never completely forget the things of the past, but we can make it easier to enjoy life as we overcome the pain, humiliation, mental, and physical problems that arise by either asking God to forgive you or by you forgiving those that hurt you.
Try
to understand that these things that God has allowed were not to
punish you or a loved one. Sometimes God allows this type of pain to
draw us closer to Him, to teach us, and to make us aware of certain
things.
Also, you will be able to help others who are going
through similar situations as you become a blessing and example that
God can endure all tragic circumstances.
Scriptures
Showing Forgiveness:
"If thine
enemy be hungry, give him bread to eat; and if he be thirsty, give
him water to drink: For thou shalt heap coals of fire upon his
head, and the LORD shall reward thee. The north wind driveth away
rain: so doth an angry countenance a backbiting tongue."
- Proverbs 25:21-23
"For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward." - Matthew 6:14-16
"Then
came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin
against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? Jesus saith unto
him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times
seven." - Matthew 18:21-22
"Again,
a new commandment I write unto you, which thing is true in him and in
you: because the darkness is past, and the true light now shineth. He
that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness
even until now. He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and
there is none occasion of stumbling in him. But he that hateth his
brother is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not
whither he goeth, because that darkness hath blinded his eyes. I
write unto you, little children, because your sins are forgiven you
for his name's sake." - I John 2:8-12
