There
are a couple of reasons a person can not understand the Bible, the
majority of people who do not understand the Bible are not saved.
Some people, even Bible Scholars may think they understand the Bible,
but unless they are saved they are just telling you lies. The
Holy Spirit teaches us how to understand the Bible and unless we are
saved we do not have the Holy Spirit in us to help us discern what it
actually means.
The other reason is, no spiritual guidance or
direction, in order to understand God's Word we also need a spiritual
leader, a Bible believing church or a teacher helping us along with
the Holy Spirit.
The Bible is used to teach doctrine, to
censure and correct us from evil, and to teach righteousness. It will
help you live right and equip you to live a life lead by God. Some
words may be hard to explain, but once you begin reading you will
begin to understand what the words actually mean.
You can not
read the Bible once and expect to know everything there is to know,
God knows that we can only comprehend so much at one time so He
designed the book to teach us slowly, each time we read a verse we
learn something new, no matter how many times we read it.
One
thing you need to realize is the although God has given us a guide to
be able to handle every situation we face, there are some things that
we will never know until we meet God face to face.
When you
begin reading just ask God to help you understand the message, you
will be surprised at how much you will understand just by taking the
time to read it with God there with you.
Scriptures
Helping With Understanding The Bible:
"And
he said unto them, Unto you it is given to know the mystery of the
kingdom of God: but unto them that are without, all these things are
done in parables: That seeing they may see, and not perceive;
and hearing they may hear, and not understand; lest at any time they
should be converted, and their sins should be forgiven them. And he
said unto them, Know ye not this parable? and how then will ye know
all parables?" -Mark 4:11-13
"Now we have received,
not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we
might know the things that are freely given to us of God. Which
things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth,
but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with
spiritual." -I Corinthians 2:12-13
"Through faith we
understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that
things which are seen were not made of things which do appear."
- Hebrews11:3
