Orthodox
churches believe that humans were created in the image of God and
made to participate fully in the divine life. They also believe in
the virgin birth, death, burial, and resurrection of Christ, the
Trinity of God, and that Jesus is needed for salvation. Here are some
errors in the church and Scripture supporting these errors:
They believe that salvation is a gradual, life-long process by which Christians become more and more like Christ.
Salvation is given to a person instantly, the second they call on Jesus to save them. “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” -Romans 10:13.
The Holy Spirit is given by Christ as a gift to the church, to empower for service, to place God's love in.
The Holy Spirit dwells in a saved person the second they are saved, not in a church. “But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.” - Romans 8:9Believe that God has foreknowledge of man's destiny, but He does not predestine him.
God knows everything about us, when we will be born, the sins we will commit, when we will die, and who will be saved. “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.” - Romans 8:28-30.
