What
is Creation?
It's sad to think that this question even
needs to be addressed. To answer questions about Creation, we must
start our thinking with the Bible, and from there we find the
answers. If we trust that the Bible as true, and match theories with
Scripture then we will never have a problem. Those who question
creation have no faith in the Word of God. As Christians we must
learn to treat God’s Word as the source of absolute truth and
authority. Sometimes Christians are tempted to change the Bible to
fit their theories. However, they fail to realize that scientific
theories change, but God's Word remains the same and never changes.
Creation is life as we know it (people, plants,
trees, animals) created by God.
Creation is taking God at His
Word and believing it wholeheartedly.
Creation is trusting in
God for the account of a 6-day creation and that the divine account
God chose to reveal it to us in Genesis.
Creation means to
trust God with the mysterious unexplained questions that our finite
minds cannot grasp.
Creation means to walk by faith
with biblical foundations.
How
Can A Scientist Determine Evolution To Be True?
The
truth is no scientist knows the truth. No one was even on the earth
when it was formed and created, so no one except God knows the truth.
Any ideas they currently have are only educated guesses. The only way
to learn the truth about how and when life began is to read the
testimony of the only one who was there, God. The Bible contains the
truth about when God created the world and below you will see that
God created the heavens and earth in six days.
God's
Creation - Day One
God
Creates Heaven and Earth
"In
the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was
without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep.
And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters."
- Genesis 1:1-2. This was the original state of the earth. There was
nothing and no one here before us.
God's Existence
The
Bible does does not attempt to explain where God came from, it simply
states a fact that God exists. Scripture says that God has no
beginning or end, meaning He created space and time, He is not
confined to them as we and the universe are. "He
hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the
world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God
maketh from the beginning to the end. I know that there is no good in
them, but for a man to rejoice, and to do good in his life. And also
that every man should eat and drink, and enjoy the good of all his
labour, it is the gift of God. I know that, whatsoever God doeth, it
shall be for ever: nothing can be put to it, nor any thing taken from
it: and God doeth it, that men should fear before him." -
Ecclesiastes 3:11-14.
We
Are God's Witnesses:
God let it be known to all nations that
we are to be His witnesses: "Let all the
nations be gathered together, and let the people be assembled: who
among them can declare this, and shew us former things? let them
bring forth their witnesses, that they may be justified: or let them
hear, and say, It is truth. Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and
my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and
understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither
shall there be after me. I, even I, am the LORD; and beside me there
is no saviour. I have declared, and have saved, and I have shewed,
when there was no strange god among you: therefore ye are my
witnesses, saith the LORD, that I am God. Yea, before the day was I
am he; and there is none that can deliver out of my hand: I will
work, and who shall let it?" - Isaiah 43:9-13.
God
Creates Light and Dark:
"And
God said, Let there be light: and
there was light.
And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light
from the darkness. And God called the
light Day, and the darkness
he called Night. And the evening and
the morning were the first day." -
Genesis 1:3-5. God creates actual light and calls light day and
dark night.
This acknowledges that the presence of
evening and morning is a day just as we would understand it today.
The word "Day" is translated from the Hebrew word "Yom",
and is a literal period of 24 hours. This is the first time that
the word "Day" is used in Scripture. It cannot be used here
figuratively to mean anything other than a normal 24 hour day,
because the first time a word is used, it must first be used
literally to establish its normal meaning. It can only be used
figuratively after establishing its literal meaning. People try to
claim that one day to God is one thousand days, this is incorrect and
only spoken as a relative term.
Light is merely a form of
energy, not spiritual. It was non-existent in a world that was not
yet energized. Dark is simply darkness, not spiritual darkness
(evil). This is an important point, as energy cannot create itself
and God is not the origin of spiritual darkness. "This
then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you,
that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. If we say that
we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not
the truth: But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we
have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his
Son cleanseth us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we
deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us." - I John
1:5-8
Many
scientists today say that the universe (including the earth and all
life on it) was created with a "Big Bang" billions of years
ago. They say that the sun came before the earth and that the earth
was eventually formed as a hot molten blob. Molten means that the
earth was so hot that its surface was melted. If the earth were so
hot that its surface was melted, there could not have been any water
on it. The Bible also says that God created light before He created
the sun, and that the sun wasn't created until day four, which is
totally the opposite of evolutionary teaching.
The world we
live in is much too complicated to have happened by chance, it had to
be created by someone. Think about the earth being created covered
with water. That's pretty amazing since the earth is the only planet
that has liquid water on it, and we can't live without water. It's
easy to see that there is a Creator when we look around us.
Everything we see tells us about God, and people who ignore God's
creation really have no excuse.
God's
Creation Day Two:
God
Creates The Firmament (the sky)
"And
God said, Let there be a firmament in
the midst of the waters, and let it
divide the waters from the waters. And
God made the firmament, and divided the waters
which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the
firmament: and it was so. And God
called the firmament Heaven. And the
evening and the morning were the second day." - Genesis
1:6-8.
On day two God put some of the water that was on the
earth above the atmosphere. This made a layer of water very high
above the earth. Many creation scientists believe that the water
layer around the earth made a vapor canopy that sheltered or
protected it from harmful radiation. The rays from the sun that cause
you to get sunburn are an example of harmful radiation. The vapor
canopy would have made the earth like a beautiful greenhouse. This
may be one reason why the people before Noah's flood lived to be
hundreds of years old, and why even animals, such as dinosaurs, lived
for a very long time. However, the vapor canopy collapsed at the time
of the flood, therefore it caused a genetic breakdown within our own
bodies which has effected our health and shortened our lifespan.
God also made the atmosphere when He separated the waters.
The atmosphere is the open space all around us with air that people
and animals can breathe. The earth is the only planet with an
atmosphere that we can breathe. The most important thing that we need
in our atmosphere is oxygen. We can't see oxygen; it is something
that is invisible in the air we breathe, but we can't live without
it. Most other living things on our planet need oxygen, too.
God
didn't put just any amount of oxygen in our atmosphere -- He put
exactly the right amount. If we had less oxygen in our atmosphere,
our bodies would have to work much harder, and we would be gasping
for air all the time. There would also be less oxygen in the water,
so living things in the water wouldn't survive. Also, oxygen is what
makes things burn. So if there were less oxygen in our atmosphere,
things wouldn't burn. But if we had more oxygen, things would be
catching on fire too easily, and our earth would be a dangerous place
to live.
To help us have just the right amount of oxygen, God
also put nitrogen -- another invisible thing -- in the atmosphere.
Nitrogen doesn't like to make things burn up like oxygen does, so
nitrogen makes the oxygen more stable.
God's
Creation Day Three:
God Created Dry Land
"And
God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto
one place, and let the dry land
appear: and it was so. And God
called the dry land Earth; and the
gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it
was good." - Genesis 1:9.
The first thing God did
on the third day was to make the land surface rise up out of the
water. Some scientists believe that there was only one large
landmass, or continent, when God first made the dry land. The present
day oceans were not the same as the seas (ocean). The borders of the
oceans today formed after the waters receded from the flood. The day
will come in the new earth when there will be no more sea, but
there will still be waters above the heaven.
The Bible does
not tell us how many continents there were when he Created the earth.
It may be that there was just one large continent (Pangaea), that
later separated at the time of the flood. This would have occurred
quickly in a period of a few months, not over millions of years as
evolutionists claim.
Christian's are often accused of
believing that the earth is the center of the Universe, and that
everything revolved around it, but it was Aristotle (384–322 BC)
who taught this, not the Bible.
God
Created Grass and Plants
"And
God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed,
and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in
itself, upon the earth: and it was so. And the earth brought forth
grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding
fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it
was good. And the evening and the morning were the third day."
- Genesis 1:10-12.
God
made the plants "after his kind". This is the first time
this phrase is used, and it is repeated several more times in the
first chapter of Genesis. This means that each group of plants were
made uniquely, and that they were not made or evolved from other
kinds of plants. Plants can never evolve into other "kinds"
of plants. They can only produce variations of their original "kind".
Plants are important to us for many reasons. One thing plants do is
to make oxygen for us to breathe. Some plants also give us food to
eat, some give us material to build things with, and some are for us
to look at and enjoy. A plant with a beautiful flower could not have
happened just by chance. Neither could a plant that gives us fruit to
eat. It had to be design by a loving Creator.
God's
Creation Day Four
God Created
The Stars, Sun, and Moon
"And
God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to
divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for
seasons, and for days, and years: And let them be for lights in the
firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so.
And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and
the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also. And God
set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth,
And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light
from the darkness: and God saw that it was good. And the evening and
the morning were the fourth day.
" - Genesis 1:14-19
God created the sun, moon and stars
to light the sky and also to mark time. This means that the light
from them had reached the earth by day 6, and also more importantly
this verse tells us that Adam could conceive of not only days but
"years". The stars have also been used for navigation. At
the time of Jesus' birth, God sent a special star as a sign to the
wise men. That star is what led the wise men to where they could find
Jesus. "Now
when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the
king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, Saying,
Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star
in the east, and are come to worship him."
-Matthew 2:1,2. Even animals use the stars for navigation. Some young
birds, for instance, are able to 'learn' the pattern in which
constellations of stars rotate and using it to tell which way is
north. Constellations are groups of stars that have been given names,
like Ursa Major, Ursa Minor, Bootes, and Orion.
Another
reason God made the sun, moon and stars is for days and years. Think
of the ways we measure time: day, month, year, and seven-day week.
The first three all come from astronomical observations. One day is
measured by the length of time it takes the earth to rotate on its
axis. One lunar month is measured by the phases of the moon, which
means from the new moon (invisible) to the full moon (round) and back
to the new moon. A year is the time it takes the earth to orbit the
sun (365 days, 5 hours, 48 minutes, and 45 seconds). Genesis
does not say that the sun is not a star, it says it is greater than
the moon, which we call a planet, and also that the sun is more
significant than the other stars.
God also made the sun, moon
and stars so that we could see His glory and attributes, but He did
not put the stars or the sun in place for us to worship. God also did
not want us to use the stars in astrology, but in astronomy. "Stand
now with thine enchantments, and with the multitude of thy sorceries,
wherein thou hast laboured from thy youth; if so be thou shalt be
able to profit, if so be thou mayest prevail. Thou art wearied in the
multitude of thy counsels. Let now the astrologers, the stargazers,
the monthly prognosticators, stand up, and save thee from these
things that shall come upon thee. Behold, they shall be as stubble;
the fire shall burn them; they shall not deliver themselves from the
power of the flame: there shall not be a coal to warm at, nor fire to
sit before it."
- Isaiah 47:12-14.
Creation
Day Five:
God Created The Animals of The Sea And The
Birds.
"And
God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature
that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open
firmament of heaven. And God created great whales, and every living
creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly,
after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw
that it was good. And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and
multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in
the earth. And the evening and the morning were the fifth day."
- Genesis 1:20-23
On day five God made the water creatures and
the birds. God filled the water and the air with uncountable sea
creatures and birds of every size and description. The birds and sea
creatures are incredible examples of the greatness of God's
creation.
The word "Bird" is translated in
Hebrew as "Oph", but is sometimes translates as "flying
creatures". So the animals created are not only birds, but all
flying creatures. This would include flying reptiles (like the
pterosaurs (dinosaurs), flying insects, bats and others. Those who
believe in evolution claim that birds evolved from dinosaurs (or that
they shared a common ancestor), but Genesis tells us that birds and
flying reptiles (pterosaurs) were both created on the same day, and
that dinosaurs (and other land animals) were created after birds (Day
6). This is yet another reason why you can not believe in both
Creation, and Evolution.
God commanded the animals to create
after "their kind", this means that birds would only
produce other birds. This allows for variation within birds however.
So the finches that Darwin saw were not evidence for evolution, but
only evidence that birds produce a variety of other birds.
God's
Creation Day Six:
God Created The
Animals of The Land
"And
God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his
kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his
kind: and it was so. And God made the beast of the earth after his
kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon
the earth after his kind: and God saw that it was good."
- Genesis 1:24,25.
God created all animals that live on land
that are both living and now extinct, including dinosaurs. There are
nearly thirty other places in the Old Testament that mention
"dragons", these are creatures we would now call dinosaurs.
Animals can only produce varieties of the created kinds (new breeds
and species). But they can never produce new "kinds" of
animals this in itself shows evolution is not biblical.
The
people who believe in evolution, who don't believe that God made
everything, also don't believe that dinosaurs and people lived at the
same time. We know that's not true because God told us that He made
land animals and people on the same day. The theory of evolution is
very different from what God tells us in the Bible.
God made
some other really neat land animals, two of which are really hard for
Evolutionists to explain. They are called the Pangolin and the
Platypus. Both the pangolin and the platypus are unique among
mammals, and all the evidence shows that they were created that way.
It looks like they didn't evolve from anything, but have always been
much the same as they are now, examples of the wonderful design and
variety of God's creation.
God Created Man
"And
God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let
them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the
air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every
creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. So God created man in
his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female
created he them. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be
fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and
have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air,
and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. And God said,
Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the
face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a
tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat. And to every beast
of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that
creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every
green herb for meat: and it was so. And God saw every thing that he
had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the
morning were the sixth day."
Genesis 1:26-31.
After making the land animals, God made man
in His own image. How great a Creation must man be to be made in the
very Image and likeness of God, clearly Man is fearfully and
wonderfully made! Only man was created with some of the
characteristics of God. Only man can think and plan and be creative.
Man was created with a clear distinction between he and the animals,
not from evolved apes, but in the very image and likeness of God
himself. God separates man from the animals by giving him authority
over them. This also says that at one time even large animals like
dinosaurs, elephants and tigers all peacefully lived with man, and
obeyed him.
God was pleased with the state of his creation.
This implies that everything was still perfect. Satan had not yet
been cast from heaven, and Adam had not yet sinned.
Some
Evolutionists Believe Fossils Exist in Perfect Creation
Fossils
can not exist in a perfect creation. Fossils are formed only when a
creature has died, and no death occurred in the Garden of Eden until
Genesis chapter 3. Even then it takes special circumstances for a
creature to fossilize (they need to be buried rapidly before they can
rot. The conditions that existed during the flood are perfect for
fossilization, proving that fossils were formed in the years after
Adam and Eve sinned and are not evidence of any prior judgment or
inhabitants either from man or animal.
Everything that exists
in this world, all plants, animals and humans alive and dead (or
extinct) were created by God. There are no creatures alive or dead
that God did not create. You don't need to see God to believe in him.
He has given us enough evidence of his existence in the world that he
created, that if we reject him we are without excuse.
